The early sending off of Manchester City’s Dedryck Boyata proved decisive as Arsenal took advantage and eased to a 3-0 win against their title rivals at Eastlands.

Within five minute City had a mountain to climb as Boyata brought down Marouane Chamakh as he threatened to break clear on goal.

The Gunners took the lead on 20 minutes through Sami Nasri and should have doubled their lead but Cesc Fabregas saw his penalty saved by Joe Hart.

City desperately tried to get back into the game but the visitor’s finally extended their lead when Alex Song finished skilfully just after the hour.

The Gunners continued to dominate and sealed an emphatic win with a two minutes remaining when Nasri turned provider for Nicklas Bendtner to slot home.

This result puts Arsene Wenger’s team up to second place in the Premiership on goal difference.
