Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny's World Cup hopes remain alive.
Elneny was stretchered off with an ankle injury during the Gunners' 4-1 win over West Ham at the Emirates Stadium and was visibly distraught before covering his face with his shirt.
However Arsenal hope that Elneny will feature again this season though three-week absence would likely mean his games are confined to the final Premier League match and a possible Europa League final.
A club statement said: "Further to assessments and scans, we can confirm that Mo has sustained ligament damage to his left ankle. We are hoping that Mo will be available again this season.
"Further updates will be made in due course."
