Arsenal are confident signing Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after discussing personal terms.
The Gunners see Aubameyang as a readymade replacement for the Manchester United-bound Alexis Sanchez. Arsenal are ready to pay the Borussia Dortmund star £170,000 a week, says The Sun.
But Emirates boss Wenger was hammered by the German club for speaking about Gabon hitman Auba before the deal was sealed.
Sporting director Michael Zorc blasted: “We find it disrespectful to voice opinions about players of other teams. There is no contact with Arsenal.
“We assume that Arsene Wenger has enough to do, looking after the performance of his own players."
Aubameyang, who will be given a 3½-year deal by the Gunners, was later axed from Dortmund's squad for tonight's visit to Hertha Berlin.
Zorc added: “He's practising in Dortmund. We felt he is not 100 per cent with his mind focused. We'll see if this will help him. It's a difficult situation."
Aubamayeng, 28, would become Arsenal's record signing — his £53m fee being £1m more than they will eventually pay Lyon for Alexandre Lacazette.
