Arsenal coach Gary Smith has been appointed caretaker boss at Colorado Rapids after Fernando Clavijo's dismissal yesterday.
Smith is currently in his first season with the Rapids. Throughout 2007, Smith served as a scout for the Rapids' partner club Arsenal in Spain.
