Arsenal coach Banfield pleased with Gibbs, Wilshere progress

Arsenal reserves coach Neil Banfield is happy with the paths both Kieran Gibbs and Jack Wilshere took to the first team.

"I think there are different ways to become an Arsenal squad member," he told Arsenal.com.

"You've seen Jack go in like that aged 17. But then you see Kieran go to Norwich last year, find it a bit tough but come back and make an impression. There are always different ways.

"Jack has taken a road where it has come very quickly for him while others will come along at different stages.

"We always hoped he would do it. But Jack is one of a few that we can see. Obviously Jack has taken the headlines at the moment but there are a lot of other young players that could come through.

"And now I think there a lot of lads ready to go out on loan, to make that next step in their development.

"By doing so, they could eventually make the step into our first-team squad."
