Granit Xhaka is in London today as his move to Arsenal approaches completion, reports the London Evening Standard.
Xhaka has also made plain his desire to complete a deal before he joins up with the Switzerland squad for Euro 2016 and, though Borussia Monchengladbach were reluctant to lose their captain, his club acknowledged that they would be unable to resist Arsenal's approaches.
Xhaka departed Gladbach to a standing ovation in what seems certain to be his final game at Borussi Park, a 2-0 win over Darmstadt, and confirmed after the game that he expected to leave.
"The circle has closed," he said.
"We are now in daily conversations [over a transfer] and there will definitely be a decision before the European Championships.
"I made my first competitive appearance for Borussia in the cup against Darmstadt. That was followed by four wonderful years. Now my last game may be against Darmstadt again."
