Arsenal expect Arsene Wenger to stay well beyond his new contract.
Wenger agreed a deal last week until 2017 - a few months short of his 68th birthday.
But a senior source at the club told the Mirror: "Arsene loves the day-to-day involvement with the players as much as ever.
"So much so that we're hoping he may yet stay past his three years."
Even if Wenger does walk away from management in 2017, Arsenal may offer him a high-profile ambassadorial role to make use of his vast football knowledge.
