Arsenal chief Ivan Gazidis hinted winning silverware next season will be key to Arsene Wenger staying on.
Gazidis was then asked whether Wenger would carry on even if Arsenal had another trophyless season. Their last silverware was the FA Cup back in 2005.
The Gunners chief said: "I don't want to talk about hypotheticals in the next season. We're focusing on what we have to do to move forward next season. I'm very optimistic about it, we've got the right man at the helm.
"We are looking forward to being able to put together something that will make our fans excited and optimistic - and most importantly it will have us in competition to win something next year."
