Arsenal chief Gazidis: Academy production line crucial to our future

Arsenal chief Ivan Gazidis says their youth system will remain the bedrock of their first team building.

The Gunners have 56 players registered as under 21 for the Premier League.

Gazidis told the Sunday Telegraph: "Investment in youth is central to our club as it directly relates to our long-term sustainability.

"It gives the stability to move forward with confidence and the freedom to act within the values that we hold at the club. And, of course, it creates pride in creating our own success."

He added: "I think it is a tremendously powerful thing for a club to bring through players like Josh McEachran and Jack Wilshere because their stories resonate with fans.

"They are stories that can be related to, of effort and values, rather than to do with money."
