Arsenal have received a boost in their pursuit of Sevilla midfielder Ever Banega.

The Gunners are hoping to complete the signing of the Argentine central midfielder this summer.

Sevilla have confirmed the signing of Roque Mesa, which means that it would be easier for them to consider selling Banega.

Gunners manager Unai Emery is a huge admirer of Banega, having worked with him to win two Europa Leagues in two seasons.

According to the Independent, Mesa was the man Sevilla wanted should they lose Banega this summer.

Now the field is clear for Arsenal to nab the Argentina international's signature.
