Arsenal 'certainly want to avoid Atletico Madrid' - Wenger

Arsene Wenger has outlined Atletico Madrid as the team Arsenal want to avoid in the Europa League quarter finals.

The Gunners qualified for the last eight with a 5-1 aggregate win over AC Milan. Diego Simeone's Atletico won 8-1 over Lokomotiv Moscow.

RB Leipzig, Lazio, Sporting Lisbon, Marseille, Salzburg and CSKA Moscow also qualified. But Wenger thinks the competition's 2009/10 and 2011/12 champions are the tournament favourites.

"We would certainly want to avoid Atletico Madrid," said Wenger.

"Maybe the team that's the biggest favourite is Atletico but anyway, what I like doesn't matter too much because I have no influence.

"We have to wait and see who we get. If we get Atletico, we get Atletico."
