Former Arsenal defender Tony Adams believes the team cannot win the Champions League this season because they are lacking in his old position.
Although he believes the Gunners will progress to the semi-final, the ex-Portsmouth boss does not see Arsene Wenger's side going any further.
"Even though I think Arsenal will beat Villarreal 3-0 to make the semi-final I don't see them winning the Champions League this season because this side has defensive frailties," Adams told The Sun.
"It's not a case of inexperience anymore because the squad gained a lot of maturity from reaching the final of 2006.
"The defensive difficulties come because Arsene has too many attacking minded players.
"There are occasions when only the two central defenders are actually left defending. That's why in the first leg against VillarrealAlex Song was used so effectively as a holding midfielder.
"You need to find a good equilibrium.
"Perhaps if Arshavin was available for this competition instead of being cup-tied I might have a different view because he's the kind of footballer who can turn a match."
