Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger says a new deal for Jack Wilshere depends on his fitness.

Wilshere was back in action for last night's Carabao Cup win over Doncaster Rovers.

Asked about Wilshere's long-term future at the Emirates Stadium, Wenger said: “I've said it many times but it comes down to whether he can remain fit or not. He's an Arsenal man and an Arsenal player and he would certainly want.

“We haven't spoken about it because we thought at the start of the season we would have to see how it evolves and what kind of influence he can have in the squad through the whole season."
