Arsenal boss Wenger: Wilshere getting to his best

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger feels Jack Wilshere is already reaching his best form after his goal scoring performance in victory over Montpellier.

It was Wilshere's fifth game since returning in the win over QPR on October 27, and the manager claimed he was only a matter of weeks away from replicating the performances that took English football by storm before his lengthy spell on the sidelines.

The Frenchman said: "In our last game against Tottenham after 60 minutes, Wilshere lacked a bit of petrol. I didn't feel that tonight. He's not far away now from being at his best but I must still manage him, not overload him with too many games.

"I am pleased for Jack because after such a long time out it is great to see him getting stronger and stronger. He had a difficult start in the game tonight but after the goal he was, of course, more confident."
