Arsenal boss Wenger: Webster law forced Hleb sale

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger admits they sold Alex Hleb to Barcelona because of fears over FIFA's new Webster law.

"I will tell you frankly, at the start of the season we lost Hleb, who was in a Webster situation - so we had to let him go," revealed Wenger. "We didn't want to lose (Mathieu) Flamini but we did because of the financial potential of Milan.

"And at the start of the season we lost (Tomas) Rosicky, who is an important player for us, both in the dressing room and on the pitch."
