Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger feels they've landed Lukas Podolski at his peak.

Although the player flopped when he went to Bayern Munich earlier in his career, Wenger believes that, at £10.9m, he has signed a genuine world class talent with something to prove.

Wenger said: "I think sometimes a player goes to a big club early and there are other players that they cannot take the place from. Maybe he was not ready and completely mature, I don't know.

"Now he is, he is 27, between that period and now he has 50 or 60 more caps for Germany and a World Cup and a European Championship behind him."
