Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is pushing to sign Chelsea defender David Luiz today.

The Daily Star says Chelsea are willing to offload Luiz to Arsenal to make sure they secure Olivier Giroud's signature.

It now appears that the Frenchman will complete a straight £18m switch to Stamford Bridge.

But it is understood that Wenger is still pursuing a late swoop to Luiz who is valued at around £15m.

The Gunners have refused to pay £20m to West Brom for Northern Ireland centre-back Jonny Evans.

Evans looks set to stay put today but Wenger is keen on bolstering his defence with a last-minute deal for Luiz.
