Arsenal boss Wenger urges Man Utd to keep Ronaldo

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has urged Sir Alex Ferguson to do what he can to keep Cristiano Ronaldo at Manchester United.

Wenger said: "Once you say he stays, he stays - if not, you look weak."

The Gunners were in a similar situation when Nicolas Anelka went to Real nine years ago.

Wenger, speaking at a Euro 2008 Fanzone event sponsored by Castrol, added: "The fact is you are in a weak situation as a club.

"You can think that if he sulks you could play him in the reserves, but that just doesn't work. However, it is right to take a stand against Real."
