Arsenal boss Wenger upbeat over crocked pair Gibbs, Wilshere

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is upbeat over the fitness of England youngsters Kieran Gibbs and Jack Wilshere.

He hopes England left-back Gibbs will soon be available again following a hernia problem.

"He is I think one week maximum away. He could be present at Aston Villa or the game after (against Wolves)," said Wenger. "Of course, you want him back and to play."

Wenger remains confident England midfielder Wilshere will be available around "mid-February" as the 19-year-old's rehabilitation from ankle surgery continues to go well.

Wilshere wrote on Twitter: "I can confirm what the boss said that I had an exceptionally good scan on Tuesday and I can now step up my rehab and start jogging."
