Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger refused to be drawn on the terms of Tottenham's loan deal for Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor.
City are believed to be paying at least half of Adebayor's £140,000 weekly wage.
But Wenger did not want to be drawn on who he thinks should be picking up the tab.
He said: "I know the salary of Adebayor.
"I don't know who pays it but somebody must pay it.
"I don't agree with all the rules but my job is to adapt to them."
