Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is trying again for Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh.
The Mirror says Wenger has gone back for Chamakh with a £50,000-a-week plus offer to fend off interest from Liverpool and is hoping to announce they have reached agreement for next season before the transfer window shuts.
Chamakh, 26, is out of contract and a free agent this summer and has already had a £50,000-a-week offer from Liverpool who believed they had struck a deal for the Moroccan centre forward.
But Wenger remains confident that Chamakh wants to join Arsenal and if he can announce they have agree a pre-contract before the transfer deadline closes on Monday then it would help appease fans and shareholders.
