Arsenal boss Wenger tells Eduardo he is surplus to requirements

Eduardo da Silva is set to leave Arsenal.

The Mail on Sunday says Eduardo is heading for the Arsenal exit after being told by Arsene Wenger that he is not in his first-team plans for next season.

The 27-year-old Croatia striker has struggled since a broken leg and dislocated ankle in 2008 nearly ended his career.

He has failed to score in his last 12 games and Wenger, who has recently signed the promising Marouane Chamakh to partner Robin van Persie, believes Eduardo will be better off trying to revitalise his career elsewhere.

He is believed to prefer a move to a European club rather than stay in the more physically demanding Premier League.
