Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is surprised by Aaron Ramsey's axing as Wales captain.

The Arsenal star, 21, has been replaced by Swansea's Ashley Williams - seven years his senior.

Gunners boss Wenger said: "I'm a little bit surprised because it's always a big decision to take an armband away from a player.

"I don't think it will affect him. If anything it can help him play with more freedom and add something to his game."
