Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is surprised Louis van Gaal says he will be leaving Manchester United at the end of his contract.
Van Gaal, whose Premier League pacesetters travel to Arsenal today, confirmed last week he still plans to quit Old Trafford when his contract expires in June 2017.
Asked about LVG's comments – and if they might also undermine the remainder of his United reign – Wenger said: “Yes, it can be like that.
And you have to look at players switching off if they know the manager is leaving.
“But certainly I think Van Gaal is the sort of person who will respect and stick by his decision to retire when he says."
