Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is being offered encouragement in his pursuit of Manchester City defender Micah Richards.
The Daily Star says Wenger has put a deal for £11m-rated Swansea skipper Ashley Williams on hold while he explores the possibility of signing Richards from Manchester City.
The Gunners have enquired about his availability and the 25-year-old is understood to be keen on the move.
