Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is turning to the Bundesliga to strengthen his midfield.
The Mirror says Arsenal manager Wenger is still in the market for a midfield anchorman and has told his scouts to keep tabs on long-term target Lars Bender, of Bayer Leverkusen.
The Gunners are looking to strengthen their midfield, with a more defensive-minded player still on the wish-list.
But it is the emphasis on the German market which highlights a big change.
Arsenal bought Germany playmaker Mesut Ozil from Real Madrid for £42m on Monday.
While the Gunners will also keep tabs on Schalke's Julian Draxler and Gundogan's Dortmund team-mate Marco Reus, they are no longer priorities now the Ozil deal has been done.
