Arsenal boss Wenger set for talks with Bordeaux striker Chamakh

Arsenal are on the brink of signing Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh to a pre-contract.

The London Evening Standard says Arsenal are set to secure the signing of Chamakh as Arsene Wenger looks to reshape his squad following their Champions League exit to Barcelona.

Bordeaux followed the Gunners out of Europe despite Chamakh scoring the only goal in a 1-0 win over Lyon to lose 3-2 on aggregate.

It is understood Wenger will speak with the 26-year-old striker's advisers in the next few days in an attempt to finalise terms over a four-year deal set to be worth in the region of £3million a year.

Chamakh is available on a free transfer as his contract expires this summer but relations have soured with the Ligue 1 club over Arsenal's refusal to pay Bordeaux any compensation despite pursuing their star striker since last year.
