Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is taking a close look at Fulham attacker Clint Dempsey. The Telegraph says Dempsey is out of contract at Fulham next year and, having scored 22 goals in all competitions this season, is in the best form of his career.

Wenger, though, also considered a move for Dempsey last summer and is impressed both by his consistency and versatility in playing either as a winger or a striker.

Fulham remain determined to keep Dempsey and there has been no approach from Arsenal, but the 29 year-old has not yet accepted the offer of an extended contract.
