Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger says he'd never match Monday's spending by Chelsea and Liverpool.
Wenger would not have paid £35million for Liverpool signing Andy Carroll - because he would not spend that much on any player.
"If you look at our transfer record, we have never spent more than £15m - that gives you the answer," Wenger told arsenal.com.
"We are in the market always because if a good opportunity comes up we will always take it, but we are not in a desperate situation."
