Arsenal boss Wenger ready to act on long-term scouting target Goretzka

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is ready to act on his long-term interest in Schalke midfielder Leon Goretzka.

BILD says Wenger has had the Germany international scouted for 18 months and feels now ready to move for the youngster.

Goretzka is inside the final year of his current S04 deal and Arsenal are set to make an offer.

The Gunners have already snapped up his former S04 teammate Sead Kolasinac this summer and now are focusing on Goretzka.

"We will definitely not give him up," Schalke chief Christian Heidel said. "A sale would make no sense at all for us. For both sporting and economic reasons. We could not afford a nearly equal substitute with the transfer. We have sporting goals, and we want to achieve them with Leon Goretzka."

However, despite his comments, Arsenal are willing to offer €30m for the exciting midfield talent.
