Arsenal boss Wenger ready to spend big on Adebayor replacement

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is ready to spend big on a new striker.

The Mail on Sunday says according to sources close to the club, Wenger is ready to end his youth policy and spend big in the January market.

At least one deal estimated to be worth around £20million for an experienced striker from aboard has been setup and another significant move likely to involve a replacement for Emmanuel Adebayor, whose long-term future at the club continues to be in doubt.

Roque Santa Cruz was the player Arsenal had lined up last summer when it seemed Adebayor would join Barcelona.

Despite the interest of Manchester City, the Blackburn striker's comments this week about wanting a move to join a club near the top of the table and challenging for titles point towards Arsenal.
