Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is weighing up a bid this month for Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho.

Wenger has a glowing - and extensive - scouting report on William this season and is seriously weighing up a bid for the Portugal international.

Sporting president Bruno de Carvalho is under no pressure to sell, with William tied to the club until 2018 and his contract carrying a €45 million buyout clause.

Intermediaries have told Arsenal reps that De Carvalho could be persuaded to sell with a bid in the region of €15 million.
