Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger had sympathy for Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez after their 9-1 thrashing at Tottenham.
Wenger believes that Wigan's erratic run of results is a consequence of their open style of play.
"They have shown quality this season, and gone surprisingly from being capable to beating Chelsea to conceding many goals," said the Frenchman to arsenal.com.
"They have gone with a manager who wants to play, and that is very good, but it can sometimes turn against you.
"It was a fantastic achievement for Tottenham, but you also feel sorry a bit for Wigan as well."
