Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is planning a bid for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema. Marca says Wenger sees Benzema as the ideal foil for Robin van Persie after having the Frenchman scouted since the New Year.
Benzema moved to the Spanish capital from Olympique Lyonnais in the summer of 2009, but has struggled to make an impact at the Santiago Bernabeu, despite enjoying a decent goalscoring run of late.
Wenger, armed with the cash from new Gunners majority shareholder Stan Kroenke, is ready to offer £20 million to land Benzema this summer.
