Arsenal boss Wenger plans £10M bid for Matuidi

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is ready to make an £10 million bid for St Etienne midfielder Blaise Matuidi. The Sun says Gunners scout Gilles Grimandi has been running the rule over the Saint-Etienne midfielder and watched him last weekend against Monaco.

Arsenal boss Wenger tried to nab Matuidi, 21, in the summer but St Etienne gave him short shrift.

Matuidi's current deal runs out in 2011 and he has refused to sign a new one.

St Etienne could now do business next summer for around £10m and Arsenal have asked for first refusal.
