Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has accepted the long-term injury to Theo Walcott and refuses to lay blame on the Football Association. The Frenchman conceded that the training mishap could have happened in his own backyard.

"He had surgery today and will be out for three months," a solemn Wenger told reporters.

"I'm disappointed, because he is an important player of the squad. But it could have happened in training here as well, we have to accept it as an accident that could have happened anywhere.

"I do not blame The FA for that, it is accidental in training and I accept that."

Wenger also questioned the feasibility of playing international friendlies at this stage of the season.

"The sad situation with the friendly games in November is that it is before games five and six in the Champions League and before important fixtures in the league. Many players have pulled out because this friendly is very badly positioned.

"It would be very interesting for FIFA and UEFA to conduct a study on the players who did not play last night in an international game, to see who will play on Saturday or on Tuesday and Wednesday in the Champions League.

"That will be, for me, the interesting thing to see."
