Arsenal boss Wenger moves to persuade Rowley not to walk

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has intervened to keep Steve Rowley connected to the club.

Rowley has been preparing to leave his role as chief scout at Arsenal after becoming fed-up with the recent criticism he's received over the club's transfer policy.

The Mirror says Wenger has persuaded highly-respected and chief scout Rowley to stay on a consultancy basis and the Arsenal boss is fiercely loyal to his trusted inner circle.

It is not yet certain whether Rowley will stay on in some capacity or leave next summer but he has been at the club for more than 25 years and helped uncover the likes of Tony Adams and Ray Parlour.

This news emerges as Borussia Dortmund chief scout Sven Mislintat confirms he's joining Arsenal.
