Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is ready to make an offer for FC Basel defender Fabian Schär.
The 21 year-old Switzerland international is viewed by Wenger as a replacement for Thomas Vermaelen, says TMW.
Vermaelen has concerns about his first team future at Arsenal and is considering a move away in January.
Schar is rated highly by Wenger and his versatility is attractive to the Frenchman.
