Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger wants to make Thierry Henry his new assistant manager.

The Daily Star Sunday says Wenger will offer Arsenal legend Henry the job as his new No.2 at The Emirates. Fans’ favourite Henry is rejoining the Gunners on a two-month loan deal from the New York Red Bulls to provide cover up front.

And Wenger will use the period to monitor Henry’s suitability for the prospective position as his right-hand man.

The Frenchman is acutely aware that his trusted sidekick Pat Rice is poised to quit this summer.

And while he appreciates Henry, 34, will probably remain in the MLS with the Red Bulls for one more season, he sees him as a potential long-term replacement for Rice.
