Arsenal boss Wenger leaves unfit van Persie behind for Braga clash

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has left Robin van Persie in London as they prepare for tonight's Champions League clash with FC Braga.

The Dutch striker has fallen to Wenger's axe following the humiliating North London derby loss to Tottenham with the Frenchman ordering him to improve his fitness before he returns to the side.

"Van Persie is not 100 per cent fit at the moment, not in a condition physically to fight in the top level games," Wenger said.

"So I take advantage of that to make him work very hard."

Wenger has also left behind Andrei Arshavin and Gale Clichy for the fifth group stage match of the Champions League in which the Gunners need just a point to qualify for the next phase of the competition.
