Arsenal boss Wenger: Lack of transfer spending no excuse
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger insists he doesn't need to make big cash signings for his team to win the title.
Arsenal, whose challenge faded as they finished third in May, have once again seen their rivals heavily invest during the summer - with Manchester City again bankrolling an incredible spree to the best part of £100million as they look to blow the title race wide open.
"I am concerned about the focus of my team and the quality of my team, and we will try and do as well as well we can," said Wenger, whose side host AC Milan on Saturday and then play Scottish giants Celtic in the Emirates Cup on Sunday.
"No matter what happens this season, the money will not be an excuse if we do not achieve our targets. We know the world we live in."
The Gunners boss continued: "Do I think we have a team to play at the top? Looking at the players we have, I say yes.
"It does not go into financial consideration. I judge whether they are good enough in the championship.
"Have the other clubs more money or less money? It is not important.
"It is whether the players are better players or lesser players and I think we can compete with the players we have."

Arse do not nedd any excuses.
They are not expected to win anything.
Id rather him responsd this way and look forward to improve rather than moan and affect the team morale and confidence if they dont hv cash to spend. He has every right to express this kind of optimism and positive attitude because at the end of the day, he is not the owner he`s job is too get the results on the field substansiated by whats given to him. I really wish he`d say this much earlier when Benitez was in Liverpool. Now Rafa gone to Inter, I wish he dont destroy my fav clubs. So frustrating but we can only think positive right
This is the same thing you keep saying every year, and the season will come and go again with nothing to show for it,as far as wenger and arsenal are concern there is nothing for them,I am a gunner but sad to say we have learnt to cope with year in year out with nothing for 6 seasons now so is alright.
