Despite heart surgery for good friend Joe Kinnear, the Newcastle United manager, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is prepared to continue to drive himself forward.

"I am willing to pay the price," says Wenger. "I can't slow down. For most managers it's what makes them alive and it's better to live than not to live.

"Joe was aware of his health situation but wanted to come back because he loves the game."
