Arsene Wenger was thrilled with Arsenal's response to the weekend's disappointing Premier League loss.
The Gunners defeated Fenerbahce 3-0 in the first leg of their Champions League playoff qualifier on Wednesday night, slightly wiping away the negativity of Saturday's 3-1 home defeat to Aston Villa, and the return to form was something that pleased Wenger who was aware of the enormity of the task of getting a result in Turkey.
"It was a banana skin because the atmosphere was very heated," the Frenchman told Sky Sports 1.
"I think we controlled the game and, of course, we wanted a great response after the disappointment on Saturday.
"We are now in a strong position but we want to finish the job next Tuesday.
"We could have been a little bit shaky after what happened on Saturday, so for us it was very important to start on the front foot. That was vital tonight for us and we did it well."
