Arsenal boss Wenger incurs wrath of Belgium coach Leekens

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has angered the Belgium FA.

He blasted Belgian coach Georges Leekens for playing Thomas Vermaelen throughout Wednesday's friendly with Greece.

The centre-back is carrying an ankle injury and Wenger labelled the decision 'disrespectful'.

But Leekens insisted: "Our medical staff examined Thomas and declared him ready to play.

"He was 100 per cent fit. I did not intend to use him throughout the match but I was forced to.

"Arsenal did not make any requests to us concerning the amount of playing time Thomas should have."

Wenger added: "We will look to see if we can put a complaint in."
