Arsenal boss Wenger: I'm happy with Welbeck

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger insists he's not lost confidence in Danny Welbeck.

The former Manchester United striker has found himself on the substitutes bench for the Arsenal's last two matches against Everton and QPR, prompting suggestions that his career at the Emirates is following a similar path to that at Old Trafford.

"If you check the statistics that is a wrong statement! He is one of the players who played the most games for us," Wenger said.

"He is very important to the team. Danny has played many many games since the start of the season, playing in nearly every single game. His position is one of the three up front, central or on either flank - he can play anywhere.

"I believe that Danny puts a lot of effort in for the team. He plays very well and he is an exceptional football player. I'm very very happy that I bought him and I think he has a great future at Arsenal."
