Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger admits he tried to sign Olympique Marseille midfielder Lucho Gonzalez in August.

He admitted he looked to tie up a loan deal for Gonzalez in the summer but it fell through.

Wenger said: "Lucho was a player I liked. They didn't want to give him out on loan. We didn't go as far as discussing a permanent move."
