Arsenal boss Wenger: I always felt this season would be Ferguson's last

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger admits he always felt this season would be the last for Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

The pair traded Premier League titles between 1995 and 2004 with Manchester United winning six and Arsenal claiming three.

When asked about Ferguson's departure, he said: "I was not surprised and I told my staff I thought it would be his last year. I detected a few signs throughout the seasons.

"It's sad that he has retired because it is the end of a remarkable career. But you have to respect his decision."
