Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger hopes chairman Peter Hill-Wood will soon return to the club.

The 76-year-old chairman was taken ill on Friday and has been recovering in hospital.

"Of course [he is important] for stability and the continuity of the balance of the club," said Wenger. "I wish him to recover very quickly. From what I've heard he's in very good condition and he should be back soon.

"I think the large majority of Arsenal fans have a deep respect of Peter Hill-Wood, which he deserves.

"People forget what this man has done for the club. I hope he will get well very soon and come back to the board very quickly.

"It looks a bit like the guy who shouts the loudest now is the opinion of everybody - it is not always reflecting people's deep mind."
