Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger will continue to hold back fit-again defender Thomas Vermaelen.

Wenger is set to keep faith with Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny at the heart of the defence for the game against Stoke City.

Vermaelen is ready for a first-team return and made his comeback as a substitute in last week's win at Sunderland.
