Arsenal boss Wenger happy with Lens draw

Arsenal needed a late goal from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to salvage a 1-1 draw with RC Lens in their opening pre-season friendly last night.

Making his first appearance since February, the winger raced onto Serge Gnabry's pass in the area to chip home over the keeper.

The Gunners had trailed the French second division side since late in the first half, when Matias Autret scored from close range after Calum Chambers' had header put the defence in trouble.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger told arsenal.com: "It's a good comeback. It was quite an intense game physically.

"They start their French championship next week and they were quite ready physically. We had to dig deep a little bit to come back but I think that overall it was a good workout for us to have as our first game. It was quite an intense one."
